Terms & Conditions
1. TREATMENT OF CONTRACT
With your registration, you acknowledge the general contract and travel conditions of friLingue GmbH (“friLingue”). The registration can be made in writing (the registration form), by phone / in person or via our website. We will confirm your stay by e-mail within five days after receiving your registration. If the desired language courses are already booked, we will inform you immediately and suggest an alternative.
Flights: Flight booking is the responsibility of the participants. Please book the flights only after you have received the definitive registration confirmation and the flight datasheet.
2. PAYMENT TERMS
After the registration, you will receive a registration confirmation and a payment slip asking for a deposit of CHF 500 within 10 days. This amount must be transferred to our account within ten days. In addition, you will receive an invoice for the final payment, which must be paid no later than 30 days before the beginning of the course. If the registration is made less than 30 days before the start of the course, the entire invoice amount must be paid.
3. EXPRESS FEE
If you register one week before the camp starts or later, we reserve the right to charge an express fee of 50 CHF.
4. CANCELLATIONS
The cancellation of the contract has to be communicated with us by registered letter as soon as possible. If you withdraw from the contract, the following cancellation fees are due:
- up to 30 days before the beginning of the course: CHF 500
- 29 to 14 days before the beginning of the course: 50% of the course price
- 13 to 7 days before the beginning of the course: 80% of the course price
- 7 to 1 day (s) before the beginning of course 100%
There will also be no refund from the first day of stay or in case of an early cancellation of the course. If the cancellation is due to proven serious medical or family reasons, please contact us at info@frilingue.com. These costs are also refunded by a previously concluded cancellation insurance, which is the responsibility of the participants. Please note that the scope of service depends on the insurance company and the concluded conditions.
Flights: Airlines charge a cancellation fee if you cancel a flight before the departure. In the case of nonattendance at the airport, airlines may charge 100 % of the flight price.
Please note: for stays abroad, it is our partner schools (and not friLingue) who decide on the cancellation procedures for stays. They can reimburse a canceled stay in whole or in part only.
5. BOOKINGS AND REQUESTS
Transfers before the start of the course
For bookings before the start of the course, in case of organisational reasons, we reserve the right to charge CHF 50 for administrative expenses (those fees apply also to transfers).
Abroad
If you wish to change an already booked language course at an abroad school, we have to check if it is possible to make changes, and friLingue will charge the rebooking fee of the partner school PLUS an additional CHF 100 fee for the administrative service. If you wish to change the abroad school, it is considered as a resignation from the contract (see point 3: Cancellations).
Transfers after departure
No refund will be given, if you decide to leave a course earlier or if you shorten the reserved program.
In case of changes of any kind (accommodation, course, etc.) we ask you to inform us immediately about your desires.
Complaints (especially abroad)
If you are not satisfied with the performance, please direct your complaint immediately to the camp/ school abroad. If the situation is not resolved to your satisfaction, please let us know in writing to info@frilingue.com or by phone. If, in spite of the intervention by friLingue, the problem is not remedied, please inform us no more than 30 days after the end of your stay in order to assert your claim(s). Please note that complaints about which friLingue is informed for the first time after the end of the language stay can no longer be considered and any claims are excluded.
6. INSURANCE
Travel insurance - Partner Hanse Merkur
Travel insurance for cancellation costs can be booked through us when you register. In the event of a sudden incapacity to travel before the planned departure like illness, accident, death of a relative, loss of work, employment, theft of your passport, etc., you are insured with this insurance. With an additional premium surcharge you can also cover yourself against further possible cases like earlier return, transport to the hospital, repatriation, etc.
Health and accident insurance
Insurance is the responsibility of the participants.
In order to be protected in the event of a course cancellation, we recommend insurance that covers cancellations.
Abroad
You must be insured against illness and accident risks abroad. In addition, it is necessary to inform your health insurance / social insurance (or supplementary insurance) of your departure abroad. Please inform yourself in advance if you have the necessary health insurance in your destination country. If not, we urge you to purchase additional travel insurance.
7. CANCELLATION BY FRILINGUE
friLingue Camps Switzerland: In an unlikely event that a friLingue Camp or language stay abroad has to be cancelled, we'll offer you an alternative immediately or you will be refunded as soon as possible.
If a camp or camp week is cancelled for reasons of force majeure, friLingue charges a processing fee of CHF 300.
In the event of cancellation due to force majeure, however, we recommend insurance that covers cancellations.
7.1 SPECIAL REGULATION CORONAVIRUS
24 month warranty: Enjoy maximum flexibility now! Every friLingue language camp booked until December 31th, 2023 can be postponed to any date within the next 24 months at no additional cost. ATTENTION: The offer is only valid for the friLingue language camps in Switzerland and not for language stays abroad.
8. LIABILITY
friLingue assumes no liability whatsoever other than that which is required by law. friLingue is only liable for damages directly related to our services and at most with the amount paid to us. The period of liability is limited to the duration of the stay and does not include the arrival and departure.
friLingue declines any liability in the event of any breach of rules (alcohol or drug consumption, non-compliance with the rules of conduct and curfew times, in contravention of the instructions of the supervisory staff).
We do not accept any liability for valuables that are not deposited with our staff. friLingue is not obliged to look for and send back any forgotten belongings to their owner. We recommend to not take any expensive or valuable items to the camp.
No liability is accepted for changes to the programme due to delays or strikes. In particular, friLingue is not liable for changes to the programme, which are attributed to force majeure, official measures or delays by third parties.
9. RIGHTS OF THE ORGANISER
We reserve the right to exclude students from the programme without the right of a refund if they, in our opinion, threaten other students or staff in any way, repeatedly violate the rules, unduly consume alcohol, drugs or impede the regular course schedule.
10. PHOTOS, VIDEOS AND REFERENCES
We may use photos, videos and references that we make and receive during our activities for our website, brochures, or other promotional activities. Parents who do not agree to this may contact us in writing.
11. SUPERVISION
friLingue does not guarantee 24-hour supervision of participants. If participants do not respect the prescribed curfew times during their leisure time such as free afternoons and evenings, friLingue forfeits any liability for accidents. Participants who do not comply with the prescribed times will be given a warning, a second violation will result in the person being sent home.
12. CLASS SIZE
In order to respond to students as individually as possible, we guarantee a class size between four and a maximum of seven teenagers.
Average: 4.86 teenagers per class (2017), 4.72 teenagers per class (2018), 4.91 teenagers per class (2019), 4.78 teenagers per class (2020).
Important: This figure only applies to our friLingue language camps in Switzerland. For camps abroad, the rules of the respective partner schools apply. The class sizes may be larger there.
13. DISCLAIMER
Although the information on our website is continually updated and checked with regard to prices and scope of services of the camps/language schools, some information may not be correct. In this case, you can not rely on the information on the friLingue website. We will, however, inform you about any changes before you book the language course.
14. PLACE OF JURISDICTION
Swiss law is applicable.
Place of jurisdiction is Fribourg.
If contrary to expectations, there is an argument, you can request your request to the independent Ombudsman of the Swiss Travel Agency - www.ombudsmann-touristik.ch.
