Located on the banks of lake Lake Neuchâtel, Estavayer-le-lac is a rare land-locked paradise for surfing and sailing enthusiasts, whose lakeside watersport area, most-noted for its large water-ski and wakeboarding wire-line, is the biggest in the country.

For decades, the town's campsites have been a favourite of young people from all over Switzerland as they can enjoy sports, the lakeside and music festivals all throughout the summer here.

As well as being popular with young people, the surrounding area of Estavayer is also popular with ramblers and hikers, with the many winding trails and the nature reserve of Grand Cariçaie providing the main draw.

The medieval town center's winding streets all lead to its castle, which offers stunning views of the lake, and the most curious of people never fail to notice the museum of frogs, the bizarre star attraction off this little city!
