Mountain or Lake? The Ideal Environment for Learning

The first decision to make concerns the location: do you prefer the pure air of the Alps or the aquatic pleasures of a lake?
 

In the Mountains: Nature, Adventure and Tranquility

 

Our high-altitude camps, like St. Bernard and Braunwald, offer total immersion in nature, ideal for disconnecting and focusing on language learning.

 

• St. Bernard: Nestled in the Valais Alps, this camp combines history and breathtaking landscapes. The hikes pass through the legendary Great St. Bernard Pass, used by Hannibal and Napoleon! Lake Champex is not far away though - we often go there to allow children to swim and do paddleboarding or pedal boating.

 

• Braunwald: A car-free village, perched on a mountain, where you can breathe calm and pure air. Perfect for nature lovers! The only way to access Braunwald is by funicular.

 

By the Water: Sun and Aquatic Activitie

 

The Estavayer Language Camp is located on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, in a charming medieval town. Sailing, water skiing, beach volleyball, campfires on the beach: this is the camp for teenagers who love energy and group life. Please note that Estavayer is reserved for 12 to 17 year olds.

 

The Best of Both Worlds? Schwarzsee.

 

Between lake and mountain, Schwarzsee (Canton of Fribourg) offers the best of both worlds: an alpine setting with the magnificent Black Lake for swimming after classes. Please note, however, that Schwarzsee is reserved for teenagers (12-17 years).

 

Themed Camps: Sport, Adventure and Creativity

 

In 2026, friLingue offers a wide range of options so every child can find their perfect camp.

Football? The Football and Language Camp takes place at Schwarzsee. A week where training sessions and language classes go hand in hand, from age 12.

Tennis? The Tennis and Language Camp is held at St. Bernard, with sessions led by qualified coaches.

Art and creativity? The Art and Language Camp at Braunwald offers genuine artistic mentoring, with a dedicated teacher who guides each child through their own personal project.

Coding? At Braunwald, a programming option lets children discover the basics of coding in a fun, supervised environment.

Media and content creation? That's the territory of the Creative Media Camp at St. Bernard. Video, storytelling, digital creation: a camp designed for young people who want to learn how to tell stories on screen.

Dance? At Schwarzsee, workshops run by professionals give young participants the chance to explore different dance styles set to current music. A great way to let loose, build coordination and create something together.

Theatre? At St. Bernard, the theatre option invites children to step onto the stage, build confidence and express themselves in the very language they are learning. As much an immersion exercise as it is a performance one.

Horse riding? At St. Bernard, children can also discover or build on their riding skills in a stunning alpine setting that lends itself perfectly to horseback outings. An option that tends to be a firm favourite with animal lovers.

Thrills and outdoor survival? The Adventure and Language Camp at St. Bernard introduces children to navigation, bivouacking and wilderness techniques in the mountains.

Outdoor adventure without language classes? That's the Adventure and Sport Camp, for those who want to move, explore and experience the great outdoors in a structured, supervised setting.

Mathematics? The Mathematics Camp at Braunwald is designed for children who want to progress at their own pace, with serious pedagogical support.

Independent learning? Friplica is a self-directed learning camp, built for young people who want to learn in their own way, with guidance available and real freedom in how they develop in the language.

 

For lovers of water sensations, our Estavayer camp offers introductions to sailing or water skiing. Under the supervision of qualified instructors, children will learn basic techniques while enjoying the magnificent lakeside setting. A sporting and refreshing experience that will delight little adventurers!




 

With or Without Parents? The Question of Autonomy

 

Some camps at Braunwald and St. Bernard offer family packages, where parents can stay on site and take part in activities alongside their children. We also offer Family Workation, for parents who want to keep working while their children are in camp, with a dedicated workspace, reliable internet and a setting that genuinely inspires.

For children living their first experience of independence, our 24/7 immersion camps are a real opportunity: making friends from all over the world, progressing quickly in a language, and coming home just a little more confident than before.

 

Large Camp or Small Structure?

This is not a trivial question. Some children flourish in the energy of a big group, others need a more intimate setting to really open up.

Estavayer and Schwarzsee are our busiest camps. The atmosphere is lively, the programme is full, and friendships form quickly. Ideal for sociable young people who enjoy collective life.

St. Bernard and Braunwald work with smaller groups. Staff know every child by name, attention is personalised, and the atmosphere feels more like a big family than a traditional holiday camp.
